Infrared for Lamination Processes
Infrared technology offers fast, efficient, and precisely controllable heating for lamination and composite film production.
In the manufacture of composite films and packaging materials, lamination processes are a common application area for infrared systems. In lamination lines, multiple materials are bonded together, and this can be achieved most quickly and cost-effectively through a thermal process, in which one or more layers are heated or partially melted.
Infrared heating provides numerous advantages in these applications, including precise temperature control, short response times, and high process efficiency.
Advantages of Infrared in Lamination Processes
Our infrared systems provide numerous benefits for lamination and composite film applications:
- Highly uniform heating, even across large web widths (up to ±3 Kelvin)
- Targeted and responsive process control for precise temperature management
- Reduced material waste due to the elimination of preheating times
- Direct energy transfer enables high web speeds and fast throughput
- Partial elimination of bonding materials, depending on process setup
- High energy efficiency through direct heat transfer
- Operation possible with either gas or electricity, depending on system configuration

Our Products for the Lamination Process
Lamination Processes in Hygiene Products
Infrared technology enables precise and energy-efficient lamination in the production of hygiene and medical products.
In the production of hygiene products — and many other related sectors — lamination between film and nonwoven components is an essential manufacturing step.
As part of a research project funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), we collaborated with our partners to develop an innovative lamination process that makes production more efficient, environmentally friendly, and skin compatible.

Composite Films and Packaging Materials
Infrared technology supports efficient and reliable lamination processes in the packaging industry.
In the production of packaging materials, lamination is a frequently used process in which two materials are bonded together using an adhesive layer. Depending on the type of adhesive, infrared technology can assist in drying or activating the adhesive, thereby accelerating production or even enabling processes that would otherwise not be feasible with conventional heating methods.
Infrared Solutions for Your Industry
In nearly all production processes, infrared technology can help reduce cycle times, save energy, and minimize space requirements.
